Remodeled Home. Reinforced Purpose.

There’s something truly special about witnessing a community come together to support a cause that is so important.

In the two and a half years since our inception, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from people all over the world. In 2025 alone, we’ve received donations from compassionate individuals across the United States, from Australia, Germany, and beyond!

We wanted to take a moment to highlight a few of these incredible community members whose generosity has made a significant impact on our mission to care for the most vulnerable in our community.

A Kitchen Makeover, Thanks to the Extreme Team

To kick things off, we’re excited to share how Mark Peterson and the Extreme Team rallied together to give our kitchen a complete makeover! The Extreme Team is a volunteer-driven program at KXLY, led by Mark, that brings together local organizations and individuals in Spokane to complete projects for those in need. After working on a project for the foster family of a former Maddie’s Place baby, the team reached out to us to see how they could help.

We eagerly accepted their offer. Our kitchen, a vital hub for the parents staying at our facility, had once served as an industrial kitchen. However, it didn’t quite meet the needs of the families we serve. It lacked a dishwasher, and the stoves were broken and too costly to repair. To put it simply, the kitchen was in desperate need of some love—and the Extreme Team answered the call!

Before
After

The renovation began on Monday, February 17, and was completed by Wednesday, February 19. Gold Seal Plumbing generously donated their services, Build with Ferguson provided brand-new appliances, and Swanson Refrigeration donated all the equipment and labor necessary to replace our refrigeration unit. Mark Peterson brought together all these contractors and more to help transform the space. You can watch the transformation of our kitchen into “the heart of our home” here.

Transforming Our Conference Room

If that wasn’t exciting enough, our large conference room was also completely transformed by TM Construction into two new offices, two new visit rooms, and a small conference room! Thanks to a grant from Spokane County dedicated to our growth and expansion, we’re now able to better meet the rising demand for our services. The new offices provide much-needed space for our growing team, the conference room serves as a professional environment for collaboration, and the new visit rooms offer cozy, welcoming spaces for families to connect with their infants.

This transformation couldn’t have come at a better time. At one point in February, we reached our maximum capacity with 16 infants in our care!

The cherry on top of these improvements was the beautiful furniture generously donated by Freeform and heavily discounted by Walker’s Furniture. We were blown away by Freeform’s kindness in donating office furniture, including desks, chairs, and bookshelves, as well as a conference room table, chairs, and a TV stand. These donations have truly helped our team work more efficiently and comfortably, allowing us to continue providing the best care possible for the families we serve.

Walker’s Furniture also played a pivotal role in outfitting our nurseries and visit rooms with new sofas and recliners. Their generous discount has made it possible to provide comfortable, home-like spaces for our families to rest and bond with their babies. For our staff, these cozy environments make all the difference in supporting families and caring for their infants.

An essential part of our mission is to create a home for the families who come through our doors, and none of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our community. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has contributed to our mission. Your generosity and compassion make a world of difference in the lives of the families we serve.
